The Jesus Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

About this prayer
A short prayer with roots among the desert monks of Egypt and in the Eastern Church, echoing the tax collector's plea (Luke 18:13) and the blind man's cry (Mark 10:47). It is repeated slowly and quietly, often in the rhythm of one's breathing. It is at the heart of Orthodox prayer and is now loved by Christians of every tradition.
