Mary

Queen of Heaven, rejoice

Queen of Heaven, rejoice. Alleluia.
For he whom thou wast made worthy to bear. Alleluia.
Hath arisen, as he said. Alleluia.
Pray for us to our God. Alleluia.

℣. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary. Alleluia.
℟. For the Lord hath risen indeed. Alleluia.

Let us pray.
O God, who through the resurrection of thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ hast vouchsafed to give joy to the whole world; grant us, we beseech thee, that, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary his Mother, we may obtain the joys of eternal life. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

About this prayer

The Regina Caeli is an Easter antiphon to Mary from about the twelfth century; its author is unknown. Since 1742 it has replaced the Angelus from Easter Sunday to Pentecost, prayed standing at morning, noon and evening. It is also sung at the end of Compline in the Easter season.
