Prayers to Jesus

Soul of Christ

Soul of Christ, make me holy.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, fill me to overflowing.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, give me strength.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Hide me within your wounds.
Never let me be parted from you.
Defend me from the enemy who wishes me harm.
At the hour of my death, call me,
and bid me come to you,
that with your saints I may praise you
for ever and ever. Amen.

In Latin

Anima Christi, sanctifica me.
Corpus Christi, salva me.
Sanguis Christi, inebria me.
Aqua lateris Christi, lava me.
Passio Christi, conforta me.
O bone Iesu, exaudi me.
Intra tua vulnera absconde me.
Ne permittas me separari a te.
Ab hoste maligno defende me.
In hora mortis meae voca me,
et iube me venire ad te,
ut cum Sanctis tuis laudem te
in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

About this prayer

St Ignatius of Loyola recommended it in his Spiritual Exercises, and it is often printed at their start. Catholics and many others pray it after receiving Communion.
